Attending a party or event typically means indulging in our favorite sweets and pastries. If you’re on the saltier side of things you’re probably looking forward to eating chips, pretzels, and anything with a little salt. Going to a party or hosting one doesn’t mean you need to stock up on Doritos, there is plenty of nutritional food that people and kids will look forward to that don’t have to add extra pounds or visits to your dental professional. Here are a few strategies that will help you look like a hero without being Jillian Michaels from the Biggest Loser.

First select food that looks attractive. Strawberries paired with blueberries and cantaloupe is an excellent source of vitamins and antioxidants. Cantaloupe is a great source of protein at 4.6 g for every whole piece of melon.
Turkey bites are an excellent source of protein as well. Cut up turkey, ham into bite sized pieces and then use Swiss or cheddar cheese cut into cubes. Use a toothpick to secure them. You can serve them alone or with an olive or some cranberry sauce. This not only looks appetizing, it’s a great source of meat and cheese.

Peanuts are a terrific source of protein and are a welcome addition to just about any setting. These are easy to tote around to the beach or an indoor park. Foods like almonds and almond butter are a rich source of protein and healthy fats.
Dark chocolate has been found to be one of the best antioxidant sources around. The other minerals in this delicious snack is good for being potassium, zinc and copper. Nice to know one of the most favored foods is angel of health.
If you’re in a hurry and need some quick party planning done, visit any grocery store and pick up a veggie and fruit tray. These are always big and if you want to add something that will leave you living strong add some hummus to the menu.
Bruschetta on thin sliced bread is another great way to pizzazz your guests with a scrumptious appetizer that looks spectacular. Keep in mind you’ll need to make these ahead of time or be somewhere a stove is available.
By taking a few extra minutes and scouring places like Pinterest, you can pick up some super great ideas that will lead you down the healthy zone but won’t make you look like a super nerd.
